Having fun these past couple weeks. Here are a bunch of updates!
1. CD: Progressing very nicely. I was working in the studio these past couple weeks – and I’ve got the best vocal tracks down (within my own capabilities!) that I can create now. Next step – adding some fiddle, lead guitar and a surprise guest musician! ;) More on that later! I think I have a title and concept for the album too…but am going to keep that under my hat for now.
2. Breast Cancer ball tournament: I got the opportunity to perform “My Breast Friends” at a Breast Cancer charity ball tourney in Airdrie on the weekend (Called Batting Against Breast Cancer). It was a very moving experience; I’d never sung the song for a group of survivors, and they REALLY seemed to appreciate it and understand it – laughing, dancing, and cheering as I sang the lyrics. What a thing! Thanks so much to Laura Reynolds and the organizers for inviting me.
3. Nashville: I am heading to Nashville on Friday. NOT to produce an album, just to go meet people….in particular I am going to see Terri Clark and bowl with her. I am hoping if we hit it off, she might pick up a song of mine, or ask me to write with her. I think we’re on the same wavelength in many ways, as many people have told me! I also plan to see all kinds of live music, and maybe do some open mic jams. What the heck!
4. Labour Day: We’re performing at Olympic Plaza for Labour Day Celebrations! Yahoo! Come on down for free BBQ and enjoy the music!
5. Other band shows: I’m still on the hunt for good live music venues that are a fit for us….if you know of any new ones/good ones with 1) good food, 2) awesome owners/service 3) stage and 4) preferably room to dance, please let us know!
6. Private Events: This weekend we had a special show at the Legion in Drumheller that was a real hoot. Thank you to the Pliva family for having us out to perform! We will never forget Randy singing “I Don’t Look Good Naked Anymore.”
