I just finished updating my website with my 2026 Stampede week shows; this is going to be a busy Stampede, and especially with the big new addition…
I have successfully added violin into my sets; maybe 1 – 2 songs/set…some featured with fiddle, some where it’s just a beautiful background. I’m very excited to finally introduce this after 4 years of focused practice, preparation, and lessons. If you read my story on the STARS song (previous blog post) you’ll know this wasn’t an easy journey, and I’m very lucky to have made it to here!
That said, I’m still a relative novice, so I’m sticking to tunes I can manage well; so don’t ask me for the Devil Went Down to Georgia or Orange Blossom Special…. haha. I need a few more years to nail those. I’ll do you a nice Faded Love or Four Strong Winds though!
Anyway, if you’d like to get out to see me play, there are several opportunities, starting at the tail end of June:
June 28 @ 1:00 PM: Sylvia from Cornerstone Music Cafe organized the entertainers for this festival, so I’ll be playing in Deer Point for their Community Festival.
June 29, July 1, July 4: Kananaskis – If you’re out that way, I’m playing fireside at the Kananaskis Pomeroy, 6 – 9 pm. Free s’mores, no cover charge, and a beautiful outdoor setting. The fire pit is outdoors as you walk into the hotel; can’t miss it. Note: As this is a fireside show with minimal production, it’ll be mainly acoustic on guitar/harmonica.
July 3, 5, 7 at the Palliser Hotel, 7 – 11 pm – at the Hawthorn Lounge…a beautiful lounge, with a range of great food and drinks. You don’t have to stay at the hotel, just come on out.
July 8 at Highland Park Community Fest.
After that, I’ll be playing piano at Banff Springs Hotel July 11 & 12…not really a country-western gig though. But if you’ve not heard me play piano, come on out for brunch, whether or not you’re staying at the hotel.
Then in late July, I’m back at the Jasper Park Lodge for 2 weeks; that place is heaven on earth! If you’ve not been to Jasper lately, make the jaw-dropping drive and enjoy the waterfalls along the highway. I’m doign 2 shows/day, one on piano, one on vocals/guitar/fiddle, so there will be lots to enjoy.
In other news…I am working on a 2026 EP! Stay tuned!
